I Love Books!
If you have been anywhere on this website you should know by know that I
LOVE books! I love authors as well. I love to learn about them. Why
did they write the books they wrote? What motivates them to write?
Did writing happen to them or was it a passion? I really want to know
these things because in my next life I want to be an author. (My husband
says I have enough stuff here to publish a book...ha, ha, ha).
Here are a list of my favorite authors and/ or their websites or just stuff
I want to put here. I love to collect stuff and organize it, so this is
the place I am organizing my author web pages and "stuff." You also may
want to check out this page series of
books as it has some very interesting series from authors I like (and some I
don't care for). Or how about this web page....a page of
lists of books (compiled by me).
- Jane Austen One of my favorite
authors.
- Anne Frank So glad she wrote.
- Dr. Seuss "I do not like them, Sam I Am"
but I sure like his books.
- James Harriot I almost
became a vet after reading his books. It was all that
science I would have to take that changed my mind.
- Marc Brown Arthur needs to be on an
Authors page.
- Shel Silverstein Some of
the best and creative poems.
- Laura Ingals Wilder The "Little
House on the Prairie" author. I sat for hours reading her wonderful
stories.
- Jean Fritz This children's
author is one of a kind!
- Isaac Asimov This is for my
science fiction loving husband <smile>.
- Berenstain Stan & Jan The
Berenstain Bears are every child's favorite. I love the moral and
discussion that can follow the reading of one of their books.
- C.S. Lewis One of my very
favorite authors. Everyone needs to read his Narnia series (at
least once).
- David Macaulay The
Way Things Work author has many more wonderful books.
- Chris Heimerdinger This
Nephites in Tennis Shoes author has a wonderful site, check
out the links from this page.
- G.A. Henty Some of the best
historical fiction around!!! They make great family read aloud
books.
- Dean Hughes Versatile LDS
author that writes children's books as well as adult fiction.
- J.R.R. Tolkien His name
speaks volumes.
- Madeleine L'Engle A Wrinkle
in Time is her most famous, but you might find a new
favorite.....
- Gerald Lund The Work and the
Glory are his most famous work and I'm sure you will find some
of his other books just as heart warming and wonderful. Try
The Alliance.
- Nephi Anderson
- Laura Numeroff If you give
a Mouse a Cookie and other fun books to enjoy with your
children. One of my kids favorites is What Grandmas Do
Best/What Grandpas Do Best but maybe that's because they
have the best grandparents in the world.
- Orson Scott Card Another of my
husband's favorite authors.
- Bill Peet A wonderful children's
author. Haven't found a book of his that isn't great!
- Margaret Sidney Five Little
Peppers
- Ron Carter I heard him speak
at a homeschool conference in 2003 and fell in love with him.
I can't wait to read his books.
- Seymour Simon I had never
seen a more pictorial beautiful book on the body until I picked up
his books. Wonderful!!!
