Jane Austen

This is where I find my bookmarks for the Jane Austen web sites and pages I deem worthy of my time and study.  I hope to be able to contribute some thoughts about one of my favorite authors, but that is for another day.  (Maybe when we study that time period or her works as a family.)

Books:

bulletSense and Sensibility (1811)
bulletPride and Prejudice (1813)
bulletMansfield Park (1814)
bulletEmma (1815)
bulletNorthanger Abbey (1817)
bulletPersuasion (1817)

Website:

bulletThe Republic of Pemberley  This is full of  Discussion groups and other bits and pieces of information on Jane Austen, her works, the movies and other things of that era.  I hesitate to call it the "authority" but it is a great place to start, in fact many of my links were found from this web page.
bulletJane Austen House and Museum- A great little web site about her life and her home.  Someday I would like to go to England and this will definitely be one of our stops.
bulletJane Austen Centre in Bath, England  The virtual tour is interesting.  The Resources link leads to some great links.  My favorite is on fashion of the times.
bulletJane Austen County - Hampshire  "Jane Austen is one of the world's most famous authors. She spent most of her life in the historic and beautiful county of Hampshire in the south of England. She loved the county, and it was here that she found the inspiration to write such classics as Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Mansfield Park and Sense & Sensibility."  This web page has some great links.  Many have to do with who Jane was, where she lived and the England towns she lived in.  Very informative.
bulletJane Austen Info Page  This is the page I would start with.  The links here are like a web.  Be careful your you will be caught for days or should I say, "dive in and get lost for days." For some fun check out the Jane Austen jokes.
bulletNote on Regency clothing styles  Great site on the clothing style of the period.  Long but a lot of pictures.
bullet BBC page on Jane
