Skating done now skiing...
When you have six very active kids it is better to put that
motion into productive things than let them tear your house
apart. As Doreen says, "Kids are structive, you either put
the con or de in front of it."
So in order to be CONstructive, we spent the last four month
taking ice skating lessons and now we will spend the next four
months back on the carpet at Mini Mountain honing our skiing and
boarding skills. Our hope is to be back at Big White come
January 2008.

Demolition!
We started with a bang, literally! We have started the tear
out process of our kitchen remodel. We had a bunch of teens over
for a party and for the service part they were to help us
destroy some of our kitchen. Of course I got the first swing and
it felt good! Look for pictures to come when we are all
done. Hopefully in four weeks, but we know how these things
go--so count on it being July's Bugle.

Pinewood Derbies!
One of our favorite times of the scouting year--Pinewood
Derby! This year Steve went all out and even bough a drill
press, just so the wheels will be lined up. See, we moved into a
ward that takes their derbies seriously! With all the new stuff
and information Steve has gathered over the past decade or so of
running pinewood derbies, he has mastered the sport. Of course
he passes that right along to his children and they have super
fast cars. In fact they are so fast, the Matt consistently beat
Steve's nubercar (don't ask). You can read Steve' account on
his
blog , just scroll down. He also has pictures and video.
Steve also ran derbies for quite a few other packs. It is
always fun to go see other packs and enjoy the competition and
spirit of cub scouts!

Visit with Nadine
Doreen desperately felt the need to go visit Nadine at least
one more time so she talked Steve into flying down to Utah with
her. To make things even more fun they decided it would be
great if they could take Doreen's mom to visit with Nadine.
Everything went smoothly, until they showed up at Nadine's
home. Mark, Nadine's husband, hadn't checked his email and the
girls hadn't passed on the telephone message. So even
though they weren't expected, it was a great visit.
The spirit inside their home is one of a fun and loving
family. We will miss Nadine when she is gone, but know
that the earthly and eternal ties in that family are tied very
tight.
