The Blanding Bugle

Volume 17 Issue 12

December 2008

Soccer ends!

Soccer ended with a wonderful finial.  Chris won the championship for their division.  The first three games of the tournament they walked through with 9-1, 9-1 and 9-0 scores, but then came the semi-finals.  They played in the driving rain which made for very muddy fields.  There was standing water in the goal box and the boys just couldn't find their footing.  It was messy to say the least! Thankfully they won that game 5-4 to advance to the finial.

It was on the same fields, but at least the rain had stopped.  They controlled the game from start to finish but had a hard time getting the ball in the back of the net. They won 3-1!  It was just as sloppy and muddy, and the forwards had a hard time getting their footing for the hard shot on goal.

It was a true joy watching a team play so well together.  Not one boy was the all-star as they all passed and played so well. We are looking forward to next season as they will only be bigger, better and stronger.

Matt's team didn't fare so well. They were out in the first round. It was fun and the boys had fun playing.

Jessie's team was too young, but she is looking forward to next year.  That meant Mike was done as well.

Jason was able to ref a couple quarterfinal games, which is a great honor for a first year ref and Kray was asked to center a U12 Boys final. They don't give those to just anyone and usually it is an adult.

Car Troubles

If it isn't one thing it is the other.  During the summer we replaced the transmission on the Escape and now it is the whole engine.  When will it ever stop? We feel we could have bought a new car with the amount of money we have put into this "new" car.

We are thankful we have the second car, but is sure has been a lesson to us about buying used on craiglist.  We won't be doing that anytime soon.

All the names and faces are real.  All the facts are real unless we embellished them to make ourselves look good.  Just the adjectives and adverbs are made up.  If anything resembles sanity......that was made up, too.
