The Blanding Bugle

Volume 18 Issue 5

May 2009

Midnight Oil

Steve is making his mark at RealNetworks. I'm not really sure what he is doing, but I know they have asked him to do some pretty impressive stuff and it has caused him to work some pretty late hours.  A couple of times I've gone to get him just before mid-night.  I can't believe I'm driving into the city! He takes the bus in to work most days and if he works very late, he calls me to come get him.  It not only saves times but gives us a few minutes to talk before closing our eyes for the night.

He also has been putting on Pinewood Derby races for some of the local packs.  He really loves to do these races and from the looks on the Cub Scouts faces they do too.  Of course he made another car. The black one is the 2009 model.

Court of Honor

Jason finally awarded his Star (a year later)
Doreen is saluting him because we just rushed in from a soccer game and we both aren't our best.

Mike collecting a few more merit badges. Eagle project is all that is left!

Matt receiving his first merit badge and Second Class rank advancement. Three more scouting activities and he is a First Class Scout!

This year Steve and Doreen will have FOUR boys attending scout camp!

Up, Up and Away!

To finish up Mike's Aviation merit badge we had to visit a museum so off we went to the Museum of Flight.  We had so much fun and can't wait to go back. Jason and Kray opted out of our visit and missed out on some fun.

Prom!

Kray looked handsome, but of course when you have a lovely lady on your arm, you can't help but look handsome.  He met a young lady, Sarah, at his LDS Prom because she lives so far away and the location was between the homes.  He will be taking her to her LDS Prom next month.  Sarah's mom took some pictures for us. They had a lovely time and both looked ravishingly beautiful or handsome.

Soccer!

With six kids playing spring soccer, of course our lead off story would be about soccer.  Jessie is playing on a wonderful little girls team that tries its hardest.

Jessie

Matt & Chris are on a team together and are having a blast. They are playing a full field and are thankful for lots of subs. They both play forward or mid. They would love to play goalie but they are just too short.  (Sorry no playing pictures of Matt were taken. But he was the chief photographer of the soccer photos.)

Chris

Mike & Jason are on the same team again this year and have held their own this year. Jason is back in goal with some time as a forward or mid.  Mike is always a forward.  One of these weeks it is going to go in for them.

Jason saving a goal!

Mike making a move!

Kray is playing on a co-ed pick up team and is showing them how to play. There isn't a practice or game that is hasn't scored at least one goal and shut down the other team in goalie.  (Sorry no picture of Kray as he is playing at a different location.)

Doreen is coach all the teams except for Kray's.  Makes for some very long days and lots of quick meals. (Sorry no flattering pictures were taken of Doreen.)

All the names and faces are real.  All the facts are real unless we embellished them to make ourselves look good.  Just the adjectives and adverbs are made up.  If anything resembles sanity......that was made up, too.
