Brazil FlapBooks
For our unit on Brazil
(2002) we put together
flapbooks (aka lapbooks) to show what we learned. Here is each kids
flapbook. Jason took most of these pictures. Click on a child's name to see what their book looks like.

The pink matchbook is a "Who am I?" and the yellow quad/triangle fold is his
government comparison.

This is an accordion fold of the animals found in the Brazilian rainforest.

What we get from Brazil's trees. |
 The
sticker was found at a local scrapbooking store.
|
 Mike
is fascinated that Christmas comes to Brazil during their summer, so this is
Santa in a swimming suit. The outside of this matchbook says, "Who am
I?" |

The extensions.
One opens to the right and one opens to the top.
You will see the tab book (blue/yellow) in a different frame. You will
recognize the tree in all our flapbooks. We sort of stole that idea
from a book we used. We scanned the pictures we used from that book.
|

I
tried an experiment and failed. I tried to do an accordion fold for
the many rainforest animals we colored. The major problem is when you
open the flapbook, the accordion sprang open and made it impossible to enjoy the
book. That is why the ribbon is holding it closed. Not sure how
to fix that besides not doing an accordion fold. It sure was fun
coloring and learning though! |

This is to show how much information can be squeezed into a small matchbook.
This particular one is on the Brazilian flag. I "stole" the
information from the many books we had. |

Another look at a matchbook. This time it was on the food in Brazil.
To put it simply, their food isn't much different than ours. |

This matchbook happens to be on the language spoken in Brazil--not Spanish,
PORTUGUESE!!!
|
 I
had a government comparison quad/tri fold too.
|

These pictures are to show how much information can be put on half a sheet
of paper in a tab book. This book is on the three geographic regions
of Brazil. Something not shown is the right side of the page which had
numerical numbers for that regions, i.e. rainfall, annual temperature,
cultural make-up etc. |
