Biographical Information

April Hiatt has a passion for sciences and discovering the world anew through the fresh perspective of her children.  An avid homeschooler teacher and coordinator with and for her two sons, ages nine and five, she eagerly pursues opportunities to both teach and continue to learn. She is the current chairperson of the Federal Way chapter Homeschoolers' Support Association, an LDS Primary teacher, and a volunteer coordinator and teacher for the Families Homeschool for Excellence cooperative in
Tacoma. 


"Conducting a Unit Study of the Human Body:"

A hands-on approach to present eight major systems of the human body to young learners.

Presentation guides and workshop demonstrating engaging projects with common materials to introduce the skin, the nervous system, the five senses, the digestive system, the circulatory system, the respiratory system, and the skeletal and muscular system.  Examples for introducing and discussing each component in one- to two-hour segments, with suggested resources for further exploration.

Approximately two hours.  Maximum twenty attendees.
