Biographical InformationMelanie Harper was homeschooled starting just after kindergarten. Her mother attended a homeschooling conference and, though it was the first time she had ever heard of it, realized that it fit in with what she always believed in. Melanie attended UVSC and BYU studying humanities, music and dance. Loving to learn was one huge blessing she received by being homeschooled. Her relationship with her family is also something she treasures and feels like she would not have had if she hadn’t been able to be at home with them. Melanie has homeschooled her three children all their lives. There is never a day that she looks back and wonders if it was the right choice. To this day she is still trying to improve by practicing her piano (when she can fit it in), taking voice lessons, classes on homeopathy and always studying on her own about health, spiritual well-being and emotional health. And of course, she is always learning alongside my children about their interests. She currently teaches Husband Coached natural childbirth classes, Fascinating Womanhood classes and has in the past taught music and movement classes, ballet, piano and music theory classes. She currently is LOVING being the primary chorister in her ward and hopes she is never released. It is her dream to someday do musical firesides with her husband, become a midwife and, of course, to watch as her children achieve their amazing potential. Pre-SchoolersWhat can they do? What should they do? Should my 2 ½ year old be writing their name? Am I raising the next Einstein? What developmentally might help them later in life and me not stress about what they are learning? Come learn and discuss the answers to these questions.
