The Constitution:

The Founding Fathers provided the framework for building a strong central government, without violating the rights of the states, or individual citizens of the nation.  It provided for a small Federal government to take care of the national needs, and left the majority of responsibilities of administering the needs of the people to the states.  An understanding of the writings of the Founders, and a knowledge of what they said during the Constitutional Convention help us better understand what the Founders meant regarding its provisions.  We will look at some of the key parts of the Constitution, as see just what has happened as it has been changed through amendments, and interpretations by the Supreme Court.
