Starting in September 2006, we have had at least one child begin the journey of high school.  Our poor first child was, as they say, the guinea pig.  Thankfully we had wonderful support from family and friends.

What is required:

*Helaman's Academy requires:

• For Occupational Education: Sewing Skills (.5 credit),  Computer Skills (.5 credit), Study Skills (.5 credit), Electrical Skills (.125 credit), Home Maintenance & Repair (.125 credit),  Cooking Skills (1 credit), Life Skills (.25 credit)
• For Fine Arts: music appreciation (1 credit), Fine Arts & Humanities (1 credit)
• For Electives: Religion (4 credits), Family Life (.5 credit), Economic (.5 credit)

As administrator and instructors of Helaman's Academy we reserve the right to change and modify the above requirements as we see fit.

A credit at Helaman's Academy is either a content based credit or a time based credit.  A "content" based credit is mastering certain skills or completing a text book (like a math book). A "time" based credit is spending time at that skill like practicing a musical instrument or playing on a sports team for a certain amount of time; roughly about 120 hours.
