To the Edge of the Known World
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, particularly near the Snake River, Yakima River and Columbia River confluence, I fell in love with the Lewis and Clark Expedition and I am so happy to share that love with my children as we "walked" their trail. My husband, a lover of history, also shared in my love and helped in teaching our children.
Please note that Sacagawea's name is spelled different ways and that I spelled it the way it was spelled for that title in that book. As you study Lewis and Clark you will appreciate the many different ways you can spell things; because they were very inventive in their spelling.

Project
| We did an extensive time line as we charted their travels. |
| Kray then wrote a play about their "council" with the Teton Sioux that just about ended the journey before it began. |
| We made costumes for the play and made some trail food. |
| Others that we considered: --keep a journal like Lewis and Clark (we did this on our field tip--click here to read it) --sleep outside (it was Jan/Feb and very cold and wet). --go canoeing (same reason as above, but will on our field trip) --visit Fort Clatsop (we will one a trip to CA in the summer of 2002) |
