The Mess in Europe and Asia

When Hitler came to power, the power of evil was unleashed upon the world.  This group was a study of how ideas can truly ruin lives and wreck havoc on a world.

Please note that we separated The Holocaust from the actually war books the best we could as we wanted to treat this part of the history of the world with dignity and the grace it needs to.  Please also know that as we have some pretty graphic books listed, we did not use them all with all of our children.  Some of my younger children were not prepared to view the images these books and movies brought.  It is a tragic thing that happened and needed to be treated with the utmost dignity any human being deserves. It is hard enough to swallow the images as a grown adult, I can only imagine what a child's view on this could be.  Please use judgment in your selection of books, movies and other material as you present this awful episode in World History.

Please see the General History page for more books and links.

Projects

We had our grandmother (my mother) come and talk about her experience as a young girl in the war.  She lived near an Air Force base near the Pacific Coast as well as had older brothers who fought in the war.  It was quite the experience to say the least.
