Who We Are

We are a non-profit organization set up to help parents educate their children according to the desires and wishes of their heart.  Our membership is open and nondiscriminatory.  We welcome all to come and learn from each other.

"We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things.  If there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report or praiseworthy we seek after these things." --Joseph Smith Jr.

Although WALDSFE is not officially sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the founders are members of the church and adhere to its teachings.  We welcome all to come and enjoy the benefits WALDSFE offers.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to give support to the family as they raise their children in the manner they have chosen.  As the First Presidency said in their letter dated February 11, 1999:

We call upon parents to devote their best efforts to the teaching and rearing of their children in gospel principles which will keep them close to the Church.  The home is the basis of a righteous life, and no other instrumentality can take its place or fulfill its essential functions in carrying forward this God-given responsibility.

We counsel parents and children to give highest priority to family prayer, family home evening, gospel study and instruction, and wholesome family activities. However worthy and appropriate other demands or activities may be, they must not be permitted to displace the divinely-appointed duties that only parents and families can adequately perform.

(from the First Presidency’s letter dated February 11, 1999)

You can visit The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints web site for the complete letter and many other great words of wisdom.

We do not care what direction you take in teaching, guiding and educating your children.  We will support you.  The world now offers so many different choices and it is such a blessing to live in an age and country where those choices can help us "train up [your] child" Proverbs 22:6.  We hope to be a doorway to that world.  Not only to open the door to all the choices but to stand behind (or beside) you on this journey and offer the many resources we have found helpful on our journey.  Good luck on your journey, and remember it is the journey not the destination that has so much to offer.

Supporting Each Other

We also have a state wide online support group we would love for you to join.  Please join us, we need your support and your ideas.
